Walmart is a multinational retail corporation that operates a chain of discount department stores, grocery stores, and hypermarkets. Founded by Sam Walton in 1962, the company is based in Bentonville, Arkansas and has over 11,000 stores in 27 countries, under a total of 59 different names. In addition to retail, the company also operates a number of other business segments, including a wholesale cash-and-carry business, an e-commerce platform, and a retail analytics company. Walmart is considered the world’s largest company by revenue and is one of the largest employers in the world.
