What is Functional Nutrition?

Functional nutrition is a holistic approach to health and wellness that focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of chronic health conditions and symptoms, rather than just treating the symptoms. It is a systems-based approach that looks at the body as a whole, and how different systems and functions are interconnected.

Functional nutrition practitioners believe that chronic health conditions and symptoms are often the result of imbalances in the body’s systems, and that these imbalances can be caused by factors such as poor diet, stress, lack of physical activity, environmental toxins, and other lifestyle factors. They will use a variety of tools such as lab testing, dietary analysis, and functional assessments to identify these imbalances and develop an individualized plan to address them.

Functional nutrition plans may include a combination of dietary changes, supplements, and lifestyle modifications to help improve overall health and well-being. They may also consider factors such as stress, sleep, physical activity, and environmental exposure, in addition to dietary intake, to help identify the root cause of health issues and develop an appropriate plan to address them.

It’s important to note that functional nutrition approach is not a replacement for medical treatment, but rather a complementary approach that can be used in conjunction with traditional medical care to improve overall health and well-being.
