Netflix was founded on August 29, 1997, by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph. Initially, it was a subscription-based DVD-by-mail service, which allowed customers to rent DVDs through the mail. The company began to offer streaming services in 2007, which allowed customers to watch movies and TV shows directly on their computers.
Netflix started to produce its own content in 2013 with House of Cards, it was the first online streaming service to produce and release a full season of an original TV show. Over the years, Netflix has continued to produce and acquire more original content, such as Stranger Things, Narcos, The Crown, and many more.
